Omothymus (Lampropelma) violaceopes-Singapore Blue 1.5″

$65.00

The Singapore blue has quite the taxonomic checkered past. It began as Cyriopagopus sp Blue, then Lampropelma violaceopes, and now Smith and Jacobi have revised them again, moving them to Omothymus. Volker von Wirth might have something to say about this in the future. That aside, if you don’t have a violaceopes, I have to ask with much incredulity, why not? Seriously? You get this large, imposing and elegant monster with enlarged tarsal pads and it exudes purple reign. (see what I did there?) Along with P. rufilata and P. ornata these have the largest legspans of any Old World tarantulas at nearly 10″, and are fairly docile. No, that does not mean ignore your intelligence and dive in, it means they are easy to maintain and work around. They don’t come charging out to devour you, rather they sit and wait and watch. CB specimens do better than WC, as is the case with SE Asian species, and oh, we have some! The babies do well and grow fast. Keep them at 74-85 with humidity of 75%.
